The Drivers directory holds driver files, typically with a .SYS extension. Device drivers allows Windows and applications to work with various hardware devices and communication protocals such as TCP/IP.
The DriverStore is a repository for driver packages managed by the Windows Driver Install Frameworks (DIFx). They use the driver store to store and retrieve driver packages. Drivers are not directly run from this directory.
There are no known security risks in using Virtualaudio.sys assuming it has not been modified or replaced by virus or malware and it resides in the default directory. This file is installed as part of the Windows operating system.
