Description
This is a catch-all for a number of issues that Chkdsk encounters and it can't continue.
Sample Dialog
Dialog may appear differently depending on XP style options and where it occurs.
Close all running applications (as open file might cause this condition) and then at re-run Chkdsk /R at the command prompt. The /R option will fix errors similar to the /F option, and will locate bad sectors and recover readable information.

Rerun Under Safe Mode

Reboot the system into safe mode, by pressing F8 after the BIOS completes it's startup checks. Select command prompt. Run Chkdsk /R at the command prompt.
