If the Cookies, History or Temporary Internet Files directory or contents are damaged, you can remove the directory and a new one will automatically be created when next needed.

  1. Note these instructions first, and then and close Internet Explorer before proceeding.
  2. Using Explorer, locate these three directories either in the C:\Windows directory or under c:\Windows\Temp :

    Cookies
    History
    Temporary Internet Files

  3. Delete the damaged directories and all the files under each directory.
