Error Copying File or Folder

Cannot copy : The parameter is incorrect.

  Description

This will occur if the file size is greater than 4 GB, and you attempt to copy it to a drive that is formatted for FAT32, where the largest file allowed is 4 GB.  For example, most USB drives are pre-formatted as FAT32. NTFS allows far larger sized files.

Format the media. This action will permanently erase any existing data on the media, so only do this if you are sure there is no existing data that you want to keep.

  1. Open Explorer (Windows Key + E).
  2. Select the drive to format and right-click, and select Format.
  3. Confirm you are formatting the correct drive, as you don't want to incorrectly select the wrong drive and erase critical information.

Pick any options and/or set the volume label. For example, if you need to have files larger than 4 GB, you must format the drive for NTFS.
  4. When the options are set as desired, click OK.
  5. At the warning confirmation dialog, click OK.
