Solutions and Fixes

Run Regedit as Administrator

To run Regedit under administrative rights:

Windows 7 and Vista

Open the Explorer (Windows key + E) and navigate to C:\Windows
Right-click on regedit.exe and select: Run as administrator
If UAC is on, you will be prompted to enter the appropriate details. Then click on Submit.
Proceed with your changes to the registry.

Windows XP

Open the Explorer (Windows key + E) and navigate to C:\Windows
Right-click on regedit.exe and select: Run as...
Select The following user, the user name Administrator, and enter the password. Select OK.
Proceed with your changes to the registry.
