To enable and start a specific Service that is off:
Select Start, then in the Programs List, select Administrative
Tools, then Services. As an alternative, you can type "Services"
in the search programs box (Windows 7/Vista) or open the Run dialog
(Windows + R) and type services.msc
Depending on your configuration, if you are prompted for the
administrative password, enter it when prompted and select OK.
The
Component Services Dialog appears:
Select Services (Local) in the left pane, and scroll down to the service you want to start (Windows Backup in this example).
Double-click on the service entry that you want. The Properties dialog
should appear similar to the one below:
Set the Startup Type to Automatic and then click on Start.
Once the service is started (as shown by the progress completion dialog
disappearing) click OK.
