Use Media Supported By OS

Check if you are attempting to write to media not supported by the OS.

For example, Windows XP only supports burning to CDs (no DVDs). Windows Vista and Windows 7 support burning to CDs and DVDs, but not Blu-Ray.

If this is the case, you can either:

  • Replace the media with one that is supported by the OS (i.e. blank writable CD media).

  • Install a software product that supports burning the media you want to use (assuming you have a DVD or Blu-ray hardware drive).

Replace Problem Media

The media may be defective or the wrong type. Replace the media if possible.

For example, if using a CD, use a different CD, or different CD type (CD-R, or CD+R), or even a different manufacturer for the CD.
