Description
NFO files (shortcut for iNFOrmation) text files can generate this error if the filename and/or directory has a space within the name. It also may be confused by the .nfo extension that Windows is not aware of.

You can use Notepad (or other editor you prefer) on non-standard files. To do this and associate the editor with the file extension in the future:
For Windows 7/Vista:
Using Explorer, locate the file on your computer.
Right-click
on the file and click Open with...
In the Open With dialog, if Notepad
appears, select it, but you will likely need to click on Browse. If so, in the Open with... dialog, navigate to C:\Windows and select Notepad, and then OK.
Near the bottom, add a
check-mark by Always use the selected program to open
this kind of file.
Click OK.
For Windows XP:
Using Explorer, locate the file on your computer.
Right-click on the file and click Open With
If you are given several options in the menu here, select Choose
Program…
In the Open With dialog, select Notepad under Programs.
Add a check-mark by Always use the selected program to open
this kind of file.

To fix the problem where the directory has a space, apply this registry fix:
Open the Run dialog by pressing Windows key + R. Enter regedit and press OK.
