Check if the target network device is turned on, operating properly and has a network connection. If it appears well, you might try a power-shutdown and restart of the device and any router used to connect the device to the network.

Fix the network connection. Assuming the physical or wireless connection is working, have Windows attempt a repair:

For Windows 7:

  1. Right-click on the network icon in the toolbar.

  2. Select Troubleshoot and repair.
  3. Windows will attempt to repair the connection.

For Windows Vista:

  1. Right-click on the network icon in the toolbar.

  2. Select Diagnose and repair.
  3. Windows will attempt to repair the connection.

For Windows XP:

  1. Right-click on the network icon in the toolbar.

  2. Select Repair.
  3. Windows will attempt to repair the connection.
