The key is made up of letters and numbers, and you can type lower or upper-case characters without concern (both are accepted). Be careful in that some letters and numbers can be confused with each other.
Generally Microsoft does not use the easily confused digits 0 and 1, nor characters '0' and 'I".
Characters that are most often typed wrong are 'B', 'D' and 'Q' as well as the digit '8', which are all valid characters.
