If you are getting this error while trying to encode an .avi file, the problem is incompatibility! Nero tech support may tell you to reload your system, uninstall reinstall .net, blah blah blah; they're all a waste of time.
The issue is with the FourCC code within the .avi file itself. To fix the issue download AVIC FourCC code changer. You can download it at http://www.inmatrix.com/files/avic_download.shtml. Since I have done this, I haven't had the error since and finally burned the .avi file that had been plaguing me without a hitch! The program is freeware and only 138K in size, no installation. Before you attempt this, make a copy of your .avi file first because you cannot undo any changes and if you select the wrong parameters, you can render your video unplayable!
