You may need to perform both these operations from an Administrator account. Also be careful on what you uninstall, as some devices are required for Windows to operate and/or access the internet to get updates.

First uninstall the problem driver if still installed. To do this:

  1. Open the run dialog (Windows key + R) and type devmgmt.msc to start the Device Manager. Locate the type of device, and click on the device. Often this will show a secondary list of devices. Select the specific problem device.
  2. Select the Driver Tab, and click on Uninstall.

  3. When complete, select Ok. In some cases a reboot will be necessary.

Then install a newer version of the driver that corrects the issue or use an alternative software product that has a valid driver.

The GPIO driver is typically provided by a hardware motherboard or peripheral device manufacturer.

While BSoD fatal stop errors are identified by Microsoft Windows, they are often caused by non-Microsoft applications, drivers and hardware issues.
