No matter what video card driver you have Windows 8.x installs its own drivers. When you install the proper video drivers the two of them can clash and generate System thread K_mode and Kernel lock errors.
If a fresh Windows install, go to installed updates and uninstall the Microsoft installed video drivers. If you do not see any video drivers there, go to the Control panel, System then click on Services and disable all video drivers. Reboot, but when asked, do not let windows automaticly install drivers. Use your video driver disk instead.
